Radio Receivers and Transponders To Be Permanent Fixture at Selinsgrove Speedway
Transponders are required for 358 Sprint Cars and Late Models for all events at Selinsgrove Speedway. Drivers/Owners can either purchase transponders or rent them on a weekly basis. Transponders can be purchased directly from AMB for $420 for a rechargeable unit and $380 for a direct wired unit (battery equipped vehicles only) plus shipping or from Selinsgrove Speedway at a reduced price determined by current dealer cost. Transponders can also be rented on a weekly basis from Selinsgrove Speedway for $10 per night. Rentals require a Visa or Mastercard to hold a $375 security deposit. Anyone renting a transponder from the speedway is responsible for its return in the same condition it was issued or they will forfeit the security deposit. If you require financing to purchase a transponder please see Speedway Management. Any questions regarding transponders can be sent to E-timing@selinsgrovespeedway.com or contact electronic timing and scoring personnel at the speedway on Friday or Saturday nights.
Sales and rentals of the recommended one-way radio, the Raceceiver 1600, are being handled by Larry Miller Racing Parts. Miller Racing Parts is the main supplier of race parts at the speedway and they are located between the scoring tower and the sprint car pit area. Selling price for radios is around $185 and includes the special driver ear pieces. Radio rentals are $20 per night. Any other questions regarding the sale or operation of the one-way radios should be directed to Miller Racing Parts on Saturday nights.
The race director will be in contact via the radio to all drivers on frequency 454.000 during race events. Drivers will be informed of race conditions as necessary. Information relayed to drivers will include "going green this time", caution and red flag conditions and locations and lineup positions. So far the overall reaction to the radios has been favorable. Any questions, concerns or suggestions as to the communication between the Race Director and the Drivers should be addressed with Speedway management.
